Reveal Bali

Reveal Bali started by a group of surfers from Central California who were in quest of a lifestyle not promoted in western culture. They shared a love for surfing, nature, and self-sufficient living. When they arrived in Padang Bali in 1991 they instantly fell in love with the people, culture, food, way of life, and surf. The culture of Bali is unique. People say that the Balinese people have reached self-content. It is not an exaggeration that when a Balinese is asked what heaven is like, he would say, just like Bali, without the worries of mundane life. They want to live in Bali, to be cremated in Bali when they die, and to reincarnate in Bali.(indo.com) Everything about Bali motivated the group of surfers to figure out a way to stay.

They all got visas through some questionable paper work and founded Reveal Bali in 1994. The three founders each pitched in some money to buy 2 acres of land sitting on top of an epic surf spot and began building their dream house. Soon the company evolved into a place where traveling surfers could come and stay for months at a time as long as they helped out with the daily chores. Everyone who stayed with in those first 4 years saw our 2 acre parcel of land turn into something amazing. The master house was built; the land was turned and tended to produce an assortment vegetation, animals were bought to produce eggs and milk, and residence became expert fisherman. As time went on, some local Balinese began helping us out with our farming techniques and slowly started showing us the secrets of Bali. Reveal Bali began contributing to the community and eventually became a respected member. In 2002 we were offered a hand carved sculpture by the local tribe as symbol of their friendship with Reveal Bali.

Over the years our commune has expanded as more and more surfers decide to join our family and contribute to our way of life. With over 25 people currently residing at Reveal Bali, a fully sufficient farm, and a life that revolves around the spirit of Bali, those original three surfers from Central California have truly found the lifestyle they set out for in 1991.
